Brimley Johnson,with an Introduction by Prof. William Lyon Phelps, Ph.D., Lampson Professor of English Literature, Yale University. 8.5" x 5.25" This is a 1915 reissue in 12 volumes of the 10-volume Old Manor House Edition (Gilson E106), published in 1906 by Frank S. Holby. The Holby edition was also reissued as the 12 volume (limited) 1906 Chawton Edition; as the 12 volume 1906 Manydown Edition; as the 1907 12 volume Illustrated Cabinet Edition (Dana Estes); and as the 1913 12 volume "Winchester Edition" (Himebaugh, New York), this last not to be confused with the Winchester Editions issued by John Grant, Edinburgh. This is an undated reprint of the Roberts Brothers 1892 edition(Gilson, E76, p. 266), which was originally issued in 12 volumes. This set bound each work into one volume instead of the two each as issued by Roberts Brothers. The two illustrations in each volume are the frontispieces of the Roberts volumes. The set consists of all six Novels, "Lady Susan", "The Watsons", and Austen-Leigh's "Memoir" and the "Letters." Over all in very good condition with some wear (but no tears) to headbands and some minor bumping to corners. The paper labels are faded but intact. All joints and hinges are tight and intact.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
