Volume X of this set continues through the presidency of William Howard Taft and has the important eleventh volume, The Index to all of the previous volumes. ; 8vo; 8145 + Index pages; Beginning with Volume I, the formation of the government, and the Presidency of George Washington, through Volume X, the presidency of William Howard Taft, in 1912, the documents of each of the presidents are offered. Volume XI, The Index, is "not only a key that unlocks the treasures of the entire publication, but it is in itself an alphabetically arranged brief history or story of the great controlling events consituting the History of the United States. -- Under its proper alphabetical classification the story is told of every great subject referred to by any of the Presidents in their official Messages, and at the end of each story the official utterances of the Presidents themselves are cited upon the subject, so that you may readily turn to the page in the body of the work itself of this original information. -- Next to the possession of knowledge is the ability to turn at will to where knowledge is to be found." An exquisite edition of Anne Frank's moving diary, bound in full grey Morocco leather, with title ("Het Achterhuis") blindstamped on front and on spine. Published in 1985 by the Pennyroyal Press with Jewish Heritage Publishing. Contains 10 plates by Joseph Goldyne, each with tissue guard. The plates are in several media, including hardground etching, softground etching, aquatint, and dry-point. The text for the book was set in Monotype Bembo by Stinehour Press, Lunenburg, VT. The etchings were executed by Joseph Goldyne, who signed the book on the limiting page. The book was designed by Barry Moser, who also signed the book. The paper used for the text is Mohawk Letterpress from the Mohawk Mills. The engravings were printed on Rives paper. Printing of the book began in August 1985, and ended in November 1985.; Folio 13" - 23" tall
